The Raksha Art Show is a platform to raise awareness for gender-based violence by creating space for diverse voices and unique perspectives, while building community connections and promoting a culture of healing and empowerment.

Our 2025 theme, Leap of Faith, highlighted bold moments where vision became reality. The art show celebrated the courage it takes to step into the unknown, leave comfort zones, and embrace risk. Artists explored transformative moments—pursuing dreams, initiating change, and taking that first step into uncertainty—inviting viewers to reflect on their own leaps of faith. The exhibit featured a dynamic range of installations and mixed-media works, examining how trust, belief, and instinct can spark profound transformation. This year’s theme also honored Raksha’s 30th anniversary, celebrating a legacy that began with a courageous first step.
Our 6th annual art show featured 44 artists with 76 pieces of art displayed! This year we were excited to have new artists join us! Our Opening Night at the Avondale Arts Center on April 12th saw 200+ attendees come through and 17 pieces of art were sold over the weekend! We are so grateful and proud of our community coming together to uplift the “Leap of Faith” and providing a space of safety, healing, and comfort.
We’re deeply grateful to our venue partner, Avondale Arts Center, for warmly opening your doors to us and being such a fantastic collaborator. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated team of volunteers whose passion brings this vibrant space to life. We also extend our thanks to:
- Friends of Raksha, for donating samosas filled with flavor and heart.
- Coffee Cares ATL, for the fresh, perfectly crafted tea sandwiches with a South Asian twist.
- Tea Moments Atlanta, for serving refreshing, homestyle karak chai that added warmth to the Art Show.
Lastly, a special thank you to Urgent Psych for their generous sponsorship—your support means the world to us!
This year we had several exciting events happening concurrently during our opening weekend!
Madhubani Magic with Shachi
Our young artists took part in an immersive workshop exploring Madhubani, a 5,000-year-old Indian art form celebrated for its intricate patterns and bold colors. They learned the fundamentals and created their own vibrant masterpieces to take home. View more of Shachi’s work here!

Acrylic Painting with Niki
Participants in this workshop engaged in an hands-on acrylic painting workshop where they learned to mix colors, work with acrylics, and created a stunning pomegranate painting step by step! View more of Niki’s work here!

Blackout Poetry with Srija, Gita, & Ahana
Led by our incredible Raksha student volunteers from Emory—Srija, Ahana, and Gita, participants in this workshop created blackout poetry zines. Blackout poetry is a unique art form that transforms existing text—such as book pages, newspapers, or magazines—by blacking out words to reveal a hidden poem!

You.interrupted Pop-Up
This year we had Julia Kim from You Interrupted display a pop-up art booth. This art project invited Atlanta’s AAPI community to reflect on AAPI identity and spark empathy through shared questions! Learn more about You Interrupted’s work here!
