Asian Mental Health Professionals of GA

Asian Mental Health Professionals of Georgia (AMHPGA) is a community of Asian-identified mental health professionals who have united under shared beliefs that mental health is essential to overall well-being and that Asian communities, especially, lack access to and understanding of the importance of quality treatment.

Asian Mental Health Collective (AMHC)

AMHC’s mission is to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health within the Asian community. AMHC aspires to make mental health easily available, approachable, and accessible to Asian communities worldwide.

Division on South Asian Americans (DoSAA) of the Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA)

DoSAA is a community of students and professionals committed to understanding social, emotional, political, and personal influences affecting South Asians in psychology and creating a forum to impact change for the betterment of South Asian mental health.

DoSAA intends to be a credible source of information and resources on South Asian mental health issues.

Sikh Healing Collective

The Sikh Healing Collective was a trauma relief effort whose mission was to bring together all trained mental health professionals to provide support to the Oak Creek Sikh community following the tragic shooting that took place on August 5, 2012. The mass shooting left six members of the Sikh congregation dead in their house of worship (Gurdwara). Over the course of the next 18 months, nearly 50 mental health professionals representing 10 states across the country came together to provide support to the Sikh community. Our volunteers were South Asian and Non-South Asian. They were Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and Jews. This was truly a collective effort.

On April 15, 2021, a mass shooting took place at an Indianapolis Fedex facility where many local Sikhs were employed. Eight people died, of which four were of the Sikh faith, and many more were left wounded and traumatized. The Sikh Healing Collective is currently partnering with local community members to pave a path forward to heal and empower the Sikh community of Indianapolis.

They are especially grateful to the Division on South Asian Americans (DoSAA) and the Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA) for their support in promptly identifying mental health professionals across the country who could provide appropriate treatment to this primarily immigrant, Punjabi-speaking population.

Sikh Family Center

The SFC has a page dedicated to resources created by numerous mental health professionals who came together to help the community and “created the psycho-educational materials according to the community’s needs week to week…So it was a way to introduce mental health in a softer, kinder way without the stigma attached to it”.
