Unsung & Unseen: Stories of Hope, Courage, & Resilience
A heartfelt thank you to TV Asia for creating this wonderful compilation of our event!
The 2024 Ek Shaam Raksha Ke Naam event was a celebration of resilience, community, and empowerment, marking 26 years of Raksha’s impactful work. The evening began with a warm welcome by the event’s MCs, acknowledging the organization’s staff, board members, and supporters. The program highlighted the theme “Unsung, Unseen Stories of Hope, Resilience, and Courage,” honoring local and global heroes who have quietly but profoundly impacted their communities.
Keynote speaker Alka Joshi (author of The Henna Artist) captivated the audience with stories reflecting themes of healing and empowerment, echoing Raksha’s mission. Highlights of the night included a vibrant fashion show by The Fab Store, a speech by Anjali Khambete honoring her 25 years post survival, a powerful poem by survivor Pooja Garg, and the presentation of community awards recognizing Kimberly-Clark, NAAAP Atlanta, and individuals like Chetan Patel and Alyssa Cobbs for their invaluable contributions. The evening concluded with dynamic performances by Shiv’s Institute of Dance, youth presentations, and engaging activities like a book signing with Alka, a marketplace, and henna art by OKTOBME, fostering a sense of unity and celebration. As we prepare for our 30th anniversary in 2025, Ek Shaam once again demonstrated the power of community in uplifting stories of courage and transformation!
